1 year fellowship in advanced clinical training and perioperative medicine

Barts Health NHS Trust and the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to offer a 12-month Fellowship in Peri-operative medicine focussing on the care of the high-risk surgical patient, Pre-operative assessment including Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing and high-risk general anaesthesia. The fellowship is accompanied by a fully funded postgraduate qualification in perioperative medicine.

The post has been created to:

  1. Enable the post holder to develop a special interest in peri-operative medicine with particular regard to high-risk surgical patients, anaesthesia for major surgery, pre-op assessment and CPET.
  2. To develop skills in research, teaching and training.
  3. To support Consultant directed Peri-operative medicine research.
  4. To contribute to quality improvement programmes and patient pathways in this area of peri-operative medicine and anaesthesia.
  5. To work collaboratively with other specialties to develop peri-operative medical care with regard to high risk surgical patients.
  6. Facilitate the undertaking of a fully funded postgraduate qualification in perioperative medicine.
  7. To complete training in Advanced Domains 1 – 6, higher and advanced training modules and modules in perioperative medicine (in accordance with RCOA guidance).
